Family reunification: residence granted for a minor

The decision

How the matter was handled

A lawful resident in Spain wanted to bring over a minor relative still living in Senegal. The route is family reunification: it is the resident who applies for the permit on the relative’s behalf, and only once it is granted can the minor apply for a visa and travel.

This is a file decided entirely on the evidence: the family link must be proved, and so must the sponsor’s own requirements — means, housing, lawful status. If one piece fails, the application falls and the wait starts again. We filed with the competent Government Subdelegation in October 2025.

The decision came in December: 58 days of processing.

The permit was granted with its validity tied to the sponsor’s card, running to 2030, and it allows the minor to work on reaching working age. The decision itself sets out the next steps: visa, entry and residence card.

Every case is unique: it depends on its facts, its evidence and the authority deciding it. The outcome of one matter does not anticipate the outcome of any other, and the timescales given here are the ones that particular file took: they are set by the authorities, not by us.
