Temporary residence and work, as an employee and self-employed, granted for four years

The decision

How the matter was handled

Working for an employer and working for yourself do not always fit in the same permit. This one covers both: temporary residence and work as an employee and self-employed allows the holder to live in Spain and work either way. The file was handled by the Madrid Immigration Office, under the Regulation approved by Royal Decree 1155/2024.

We prepared the application with the documents evidencing each requirement and filed it in September 2026. The Office did not stop at the paperwork: according to the decision itself, it examined the documents provided and also the authorities’ own computer records.

The Government Delegation in Madrid granted it in October 2026: 54 days between filing and signature. The permit runs for four years, from October 2026 to October 2030.

The decision sets out the next step: the appointment for the TIE card is assigned automatically by the National Police, who notify it by text message or email. If it has not arrived within about twenty days, the same document explains how to request it online.

Every case is unique: it depends on its facts, its evidence and the authority deciding it. The outcome of one matter does not anticipate the outcome of any other, and the timescales given here are the ones that particular file took: they are set by the authorities, not by us.
