Administrative & Penalties

Against a public authority, staying silent usually works against you: a file not appealed in time becomes final, and after that there is very little to be done. We check whether the procedure was properly followed before arguing the merits, because many files fall on how they were handled.

What we do

  • We file written submissions in penalty proceedings, within the deadline.
  • We lodge internal appeals and applications to the administrative courts.
  • We handle licences, permits and their refusal.
  • We bring claims for State liability.
  • We review notifications to check whether they were properly served.

What people usually bring us

  • A fine you consider unfair, or one that arrived when the deadline had nearly run.
  • A licence refused with no explanation you can follow.
  • A file opened by the authorities and a notification you never received.
  • Damage caused by a public service or by the poor state of a road.

The appeal period runs from service of the decision, not from when you read it. If you have an unopened letter from a public body, open it and check the date before anything else.
