Civil Law

Civil law governs life between private parties: what is signed, what is inherited, what is owed and what is owned. Most civil disputes do not begin in a courtroom but in a contract closed badly, or an agreement never put in writing. The earlier it is reviewed, the cheaper it is.

What we do

  • We draft and review contracts before they are signed: sale, loan, lease, services.
  • We pursue unpaid sums, out of court first and through the courts only if there is no other way.
  • We handle civil liability claims for damage caused by third parties.
  • We act in matters of ownership, boundaries, easements and co-ownership.
  • We negotiate settlements before litigating, and tell you plainly when litigating is not worth it.

What people usually bring us

  • A signed contract with a clause that has turned into a problem.
  • Money lent to someone trusted and never returned.
  • Damage caused by a neighbour, building works or a company.
  • An inheritance or shared property that no one manages to divide.

Civil matters can carry short limitation periods. If you have received a formal notice, a claim or a court notification, do not wait for the deadline to run before seeking advice.
